
At just 19 years old, Erica Englert is stepping into the political arena with a focus on housing, healthcare, and education. The University of Ottawa criminology student, originally from Dunnville. Englert started getting involved last year with their student association and found a lot of fulfillment in it.
She has been active in grassroots organizing and now hopes to represent Haldimand-Norfolk under the Ontario NDP.
Englert sees three main issues in the upcoming election: health care, education and housing. Housing affordability is a top concern for herself and the NDP.
Adding that she supports real rent control, a grocery rebate indexed to inflation, and building more affordable housing. Englert went on to add that when expansion and building projects are happening the community needs to come first.
Englert believes that herself and the NDP offer a clear alternative to Doug Ford.
Englert will participate in the upcoming debate on February 18th at the Legion in Simcoe. She invites residents to consider a government that prioritizes their needs over corporate interests.
