Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is vowing mandatory life sentences for major fentanyl traffickers.
The proposal targets those caught with over 40 mg of the drug, with 15-year sentences for those trafficking between 20 mg and 40 mg.
Poilievre says fentanyl dealers are committing “mass murder”.
He wants to roll back recent justice reforms to impose harsher mandatory sentences, calling fentanyl sales equivalent to “spraying bullets into a crowd.”
The plan is part of the party’s push to combat Canada’s opioid crisis.
