As the Ontario election campaign heats up, Progressive Conservative candidate Amy Martin appeared on social media Tuesday alongside Sam Oosterhoff, the current MPP for Niagara West and Associate Minister of Energy.
This move has left some voters puzzled. Oosterhoff is widely known for his socially conservative views and his opposition of pro-LGBTQ+ legislation. He has been quoted as insisting he is “absolutely not” a homophobe.
The confusion comes from Martin’s decision to align with Oosterhoff as it contrasts with her previous remarks. At a Pride event last summer, she stated that “Norfolk proudly affirms our dedication to fostering an inclusive community.”
Haldimand-Norfolk voters will choose between Independent incumbent Bobbi Ann Brady, ONDP candidate Erica Englert, and PC candidate Amy Martin in the upcoming election.
