A parking lot swap is being proposed at council today that aims to increase parking in Port Dover and provide the current owner of the Norfolk Tavern property with more room for development.
The proposal, submitted by a numbered Ontario company, seeks to swap 25 St. Andrew Street for the parking lot on Clinton Street, which is adjacent to the former Port Dover landmark.
The company would also be responsible for converting the property on St. Andrew into a parking lot at no cost to the county.
The proposed parking lot would double the current parking capacity and include EV charging stations, improved lighting, signage, and a public walkway to Main Street.
The numbered company has previously reached out to the county, offering the former Norfolk Tavern lot last summer for a few months to help ease parking concerns.
