In a new interview with Jordan Peterson, Pierre Poilievre shared his vision for Canada, addressing key issues including the upcoming election, energy policies, and crime. Poilievre supports a federal election, even if it coincides with a potential Liberal leadership race, criticizing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for not stepping down sooner. He also took aim at Canada’s big oil companies, accusing them of failing to push for better carbon policies and wasting opportunities to stand up for the right environmental strategies.
Poilievre described Trudeau’s governance as “radical” and “authoritarian socialism,” claiming the NDP would follow the same path if in power. He also argued that Canada’s housing shortage is a political issue caused by government interference, insisting there is no reason, geographically or economically, that Canadians should struggle to own homes.
On the economy, Poilievre vowed not to shift his policies to the center, warning that doing so would lead to worse outcomes. His economic plan includes cutting bureaucracy, taxes, and corporate welfare while promoting free enterprise. Poilievre also committed to a major crackdown on crime, with a focus on keeping habitual offenders behind bars. He expressed strong support for free speech, praising Peterson for his courage despite facing professional consequences.
