Enbridge Gas and the Norfolk County Fire Department are joining forces to enhance home safety through the Safe Community Project Zero initiative. Announced on December 18th, this partnership aims to reduce fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths to zero.
As part of the program, the Norfolk County Fire Department received 264 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. These devices are part of a province-wide initiative that will distribute over 14,500 alarms to 75 Ontario communities, funded by Enbridge Gas with a $450,000 investment.
“These alarms are a critical second line of defence against carbon monoxide poisoning, known as ‘the silent killer,’” said Jeremy Reimer, Enbridge Gas Supervisor.
Norfolk Fire Chief Gord Stilwell emphasized the importance of working alarms in preventing tragedies, saying, “This initiative provides critical tools to help save lives.”
