MADD Canada wants this to be a safe holiday season – that means no impaired driving.
With Christmas around the corner, MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is once again joining forces with local community partners to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.
Leslie Kirton, Community Leader for MADD Canada, has been part of these efforts for over a decade and for her the cause is personal. At 19, Kirton was struck by an impaired driver who had previously been convicted four times. She was told by doctors she’d never walk again.
Kirton says when someone makes the decision to drive impaired, the consequences can affect a lot of people.
This year, Kirton is urging people to make safe choices during the festive season. Whether it’s alcohol, cannabis, or prescription drugs, she warns that impaired driving remains a significant threat to public safety.
At the end of the day, one bad decision can change lives forever – the choice to drive sober is one we all can make to ensure a safer, happier holiday season for everyone.
