My Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), parent company of 98.9 myFM and Oldies 99.7, has announced the acquisition of CKOT-FM and CJDL-FM, bringing local radio back to the residents of Tillsonburg.
In the announcement made Thursday by MBC President Jon Pole, was also news of the acquisition of CJET-FM in Smiths Falls. The agreement with Rogers Sports & Media notes Pole, is a win for all parties involved.
This acquisition is part of MBC’s strategic growth initiative, solidifying its commitment to providing enhanced regional content and expanding its presence in both Southwestern Ontario and the Ottawa Valley.
The purchase is pending Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approval, so we are still in the early days. But Pole says steps are being taken to bring our community focused mindset to Tillsonburg.
And it will mean some significant changes for the Tillsonburg stations adds Pole, which currently operate as EASY 101.3 and Country 107.3.
By bringing the stations physically back to Tillsonburg, it allows staff to be integrated in what really matters. Something that has always been a priority at MBC.
Adding that it will only enhance the great local coverage we strive to achieve in Norfolk County and across all MBC radio stations.
In terms of what this will mean for current employees at all three of the acquired stations, Pole says that is still up in the air.
Further details on the acquisition will be shared as the purchase process develops.
MBC owns and operates 19 radio stations and digital news sites across Ontario and is committed to delivering high-quality local content and engaging programming. Upon approval of all transactions before the CRTC, MBC will grow to 26 stations.
