This is Radon Action Month, and health officials are encouraging residents to test their homes for radon.
Erin VanZuylen, a public health promoter, told us Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil.
How does it get into your home? VanZuylen explains,
Public Health says the best time to test your home for radon is during the winter months when windows and doors remain closed.
Radon testing is simple and inexpensive.
The Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit is offering free Radon test kits, as part of Health Canada’s “100 Radon Test Kit Challenge.”
