The Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice has made a big step forward after receiving a generous offer of land from a local businessman.
In a release, they say Alan Williamson, honouring the legacy of his late father, presented the land just outside of Jarvis – an ideal location to serve both communities.
The proposed Centre for Hospice Palliative Care includes 10-bed hospice will feature amenities for caregivers and a workspace for healthcare professionals and volunteers, with an estimated cost of $14 million.
NHCH plans to submit applications for zoning adjustments and will seek Haldimand County’s approval for the necessary land severance and road access.
While it is too early to establish a groundbreaking or completion date, NHCH has engaged an architect with experience in designing hospices, including the Hospice of Waterloo Region.
