When you walk through the front doors of Florian Clinic & Day Spa you should be feeling one thing – relaxed.
The well known local business in downtown Simcoe has been offering a wide range of personal care services since 2007.
Initially launched in a small space within Dolmor Salon, the former “Eden’s Day Spa” quickly outgrew its original location due to increasing demand.
That was Owner Brendalee Engelhardt, though you can add many more titles to her name,
She is a trained esthetician, electrologist, and laser specialist, just to name a few of the new skills she continued to add to her resume, and to the clinic, over the years.
Engelhardt said the current building, which she considered one of the most derelict in downtown Simcoe at the time, was carefully renovated after the decision to move was made.
She said it was also important for her to relocate into the heart of Simcoe, despite some renovations challenges that may be in her way.
She was raised in the area, she returned to Simcoe to raise her family and has been actively involved in local initiatives, including serving on the Downtown Simcoe BIA board.
Her dedication to preserving the town’s heritage and fostering a sense of community is reflected both in her work and her business, noting her connection now to the Lynnwood Arts Centre.
When she made the move, that meant a bigger building but also a chance for a change.
She dropped the name of “Eden’s Day Spa”, instead choosing a name with a close personal meaning – the name of her father.
The clinic has become a staple for those seeking expert skincare, hair removal, and advanced foot care but over the years expanded to incorporate many new services.
These include aromatherapy, paramedical treatments, and spray tanning.
Engelhardt said they also offer a wide range of services the people may not expect when coming through her doors, like makeup and nails – though there are some limitations.
She notes they do not do nail or eyelash extensions.
She also says the business stands out for its use of an organic skincare line developed in Hungary, which aligns with Engelhardt’s heritage.
The line uses innovative ultrasonic processing techniques to preserve the nutrient value of plant materials, providing clients with unique and effective skincare solutions.
During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the clinic had to shut down for over 200 days, like many in the personal care industry.
However, Engelhardt’s adaptability allowed her to continue supporting clients by offering retail products for skincare and foot health.
Additionally, the clinic was able to stay partially open due to the presence of a registered massage therapist, whose services were deemed essential.
Engelhardt’s vision for a holistic, welcoming space continues to thrive, serving the community she holds dear.
