You did it Norfolk County!
Funded entirely by community donations, Norfolk General Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a new mammogram machine. This advanced 3D mammography technology will provide patients in Norfolk County with improved breast examination services. The new system enhances imaging quality, allowing for earlier detection of potential issues and reducing the need for repeat tests.
With this upgrade, local services will expand, meaning fewer patients will have to travel for exams. The new machine also simplifies biopsies, making them less invasive for patients. Faster results and a more comfortable experience are key benefits of this modern technology, which will replace equipment used since 2008.
The new mammography system is expected to be operational by early 2025. Norfolk General Hospital has a long history of providing mammography services, performing over 3,600 exams each year. Women aged 40 and older can easily book appointments, even without a family physician. To book an appointment through the OBSP, call 519-429-6974.
