It is Wilkinson’s, Your Independent Grocer Seeds of Success; a look at leaders in the local agricultural sector…fueled by Kubota.
Today we are looking at equestrian farms…presented by Robinson Chevrolet Buick GMC.
Timmermans Ranch, is a peaceful family-operated horse ranch, located in Norfolk County. The ranch focuses on boarding horses and offering trail riding opportunities for boarders. Krista Timmermans explained the ranch provides a calm and relaxed atmosphere for horses and their owners. Unlike lesson or show barns, Timmermans Ranch is dedicated to retirement horses and trail riding.
The daily routine at the ranch includes feeding the horses twice a day, ensuring they have plenty of hay, water, and pasture time. Horses enjoy staying outside in good weather, but during storms or cold winter nights, they are brought into the barn for shelter. Besides caring directly for the horses the Timmermans also grow and harvest their own hay.
And we couldn’t talk to Krista Timmermans without touching on the rodeo. The ranch also hosts a yearly rodeo in July as part of the Rawhide Rodeo Tour. This event draws riders and horses from across Ontario, Quebec, and northern U.S. to compete in various events like pole bending, barrel racing, and bull riding.
Timmerman added that the bond between horses and their owners is a key aspect of the ranch’s philosophy, allowing horse owners to bond through trail riding and grooming in a relaxed environment. The ranch truly highlights the connection between horse and rider.
