Football fever is back, baby! High school teams in the county took the field Friday afternoon, and the action didn’t disappoint. The Simcoe Sabres started strong, shutting out the McKinnon Park Blue Devils with a commanding 14-0 win.
The Delhi Raiders ran roughshod over the Pauline Johnson Thunderbirds, posting a whopping 48-17 victory. Coach Zurby praised his Raiders’ teamwork but noted, “We’ve got some work to do ahead of McKinnon Park.”
The Waterford Wolves howled to a 19-0 victory against their cross-county rivals, the Holy Trinity Titans. Before the game, Waterford coach Miller expressed excitement about the season.
Holy Trinity’s coach Backus remained optimistic about their young roster, despite losing last year’s captains.
It’s only Week 1, folks, and if this is a preview of the season, buckle up—there’s a lot more to come!
