Organizers are getting ready for the return of the Routes to Roots Film Festival!
We went to the Strand in Simcoe to speak with Jim Carrol and Susan Somogyi.
Jim is the outgoing Chair of the Festival while Susan is the incoming Chair.
For those who have never attended, there are two goals for the festival.
Susan said that is the goal on the screen, but they also have a goal offscreen as well.
There will be talks before and after each film is played, to further get into what is happening on the screen.
Festival like this are important because thought provoking films like Uproar, Sing Sing, and Old Henry should be raised up and not put the side for other big budget blockbusters.
As the event does fall at the end of October, the Routes to Roots Film Festival is also leaning in to what will be happening around them at that time of year.
They’ll also be airing the classic Wait Until Dark and, for the kids, the 90’s Casper film.
Ticket information and a full schedule can be found here.
