Four suspects have been arrested as part of an organized renovation and mortgage fraud scam that targeted a senior in Brantford – resulting in the loss of her home.
The incident occurred between 2021 and 2022, resulting in four predatory mortgages, ultimately leading to mortgage enforcement of the home in January of 2024.
The suspects are accused of defrauding the victim of approximately $374,000.
This was a joint investigation before Waterloo and Brantford Police.
As a result of the joint investigation, the following individuals have been arrested and charged as follows:
- A 29-year-old male from Oakville, a 34-year-old male from Hamilton and a 60-year-old female from Toronto each stand charged with one count of Fraud, over $5,000 and Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code, and
- A 39-year-old man from Brampton stands charged with one count of Swearing Purported Affidavit, contrary to the Criminal Code.
