The Canada Revenue Agency says it could resort to legal action against those people who have not responded to or co-operated with efforts to recover overpayments of pandemic-related benefits.
The agency says it will start ramping up efforts to recover the overpayments next month by first issuing legal warnings.
Spokeswoman Sylvie Branch says the agency’s primary goal is to encourage individuals to make contact so agents can work with them to find the best way to resolve the debt.
The C-R-A says it’s still trying to get back about 9.52-million-dollars from individuals.
