Canada’s latest jobs number were released Friday.
The report is the first major data release following the Bank of Canada’s interest rate cut on Wednesday.
Statistics Canada data shows the three major cities that saw some of the highest unemployment rates in Ontario were Toronto, St. Catharines-Niagara and Hamilton. The jobless rate in May was 7.9 per cent in both Toronto and St. Catharines-Niagara, while the unemployment rate in Hamilton rose to seven per cent.
The national rate for that month was 6.2 percent when compared. The job market is also expected to remain weak in the coming months, even as the central bank continues to lower interest rates.
