A large number of Norfolk Special Olympic athletes were recognized by Mayor Martin and council yesterday.
13 swimmers and a ten pin bowler from Norfolk, will be joining 750 athletes in the Waterloo Region today to compete in the 2024 Provincial Spring Games!
Coach Shirley Shaw said this is a big milestone for Norfolk, and something incredible when looking at other locations sending down athletes to the games.
She further explained that the athletes train hard to prepare for the Provincial games, but following Covid pool time became costly.
A wonderful gift to our athletes, who represent Norfolk so well.
The Special Olympics have an Athlete’s Oath that reads, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave at the attempt”.
You can’t put it better than that.
Good luck team Norfolk!
