Canada Post has begun a social media dog awareness campaign called “What Daisy will do?”
Canada Post employees deliver to approximately 20,000 homes in Simcoe, Delhi and Dunnville. On their routes the delivery agents encounter many dogs. Canada Post’s top priority is the safety of their employees, which includes safe access to mailboxes and your front door.
While they understand dogs can sometimes be protective of their homes and families. The delivery agents don’t know “What Daisy will do?” when meeting her face to face at the door.
Four things you can do to help:
- Be careful when you answer the door, so your dog does not slip out.
- Keep your dog inside, in a fenced yard or tied up far from the front door or mailbox.
- Keep front doors and fence gates closed.
- Keep your dog away from the screen door, even if it is locked.
