A new partnership between the Canadian Mental Health Association, Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation, and Norfolk General Hospital/Holmes House will look to provide an alternative location for the Addiction Supportive Housing program in Simcoe.
This program provides counselling, education, employment skills, and homelessness prevention.
Council will vote tonight (Tuesday) on the matter, as the proposed site on Ashton Drive will need a zoning by-law amendment to expand the use of the two semi-detached homes into group housing.
Funding through the Ontario Health Housing Division and Ontario Health West, with support from CMHA, will sustain the program moving forward, and the Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation will own and manage the property.
