Sometimes what happens onstage can affect what happens offstage.
That is what happened with the cast of the Savannah Sipping Society, which is set to debut in March at Simcoe Little Theatre.
Sarah Finch directs this four-woman show, and over the past number of weeks, the cast has slowly built a strong bond both onstage and offstage, according to one of the actors hitting the stage – Nancy Gilbert.
Gilbert has a long history with Simcoe Little Theatre. From starting off as a minor character to eventually directing, she has much love for the stage in the heart of Simcoe, but also a soft spot for the writers of this particular show: Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten.
That was enough to have Gilbert, who now lives in Florida, decide to pack up and move back down to Norfolk and abandon that warm weather for the chance to return to the stage.
She provided us with a little preview of what people can expect at the show, without giving too much away.
One thing that clicks with Gilbert and this writing team is their ability to balance the fun and silly moments with those touching moments.
Gilbert is thrilled to be back on the stage, where she learned so much about theatre.
She believes local theatre truly highlights amazing talent in a community and brings a certain energy to the stage that is hard to find elsewhere.
