A report released Tuesday by the Ontario Health Coalition outlined the dire situation the provinces hospitals find themselves in.
Entitled “Unprecedented and Worsening: Ontario’s Local Hospital Closures 2023,” the report says the province was one shy of 1,200 temporary or permanent closures of “urgent hospital services,” this year.
That includes emergeny departments, outpatient labroatories, obsetrics units and more.
OHC Executive Director Natalie Mehra says public trust is gone.
There were 868 temporary or permanent emergency department closures in 2023.
