The 2nd Vice President of the Delhi Legion Major Walter Bernard Branch 125 Stephanie Allen wants you to know that while it is important to support your local Legion and our Veterans on and around November 11th, they also need your support the rest of the year.
She goes on to say that the Legions are first and foremost about being a safe place for Veterans and for active military members, but that it is also about what they can give back to the community.
One way they have been doing this while giving the young people of Delhi something fun to do, has been their Youth Darts and their Teen Dances, which they have seen tremendous success with.
Their next Teen Dance is coming up on Saturday November 25th.
And while they have been creating that space for local teenagers where their parents can feel comfortable dropping them off on a Saturday night once a month, they also make sure that they have a full events calendar for their members and for the rest of the community.
And if you hear the word “matinee” and think “movie”, think again – the Legion Matinees are focused on showcasing local music.
While their local music matinees are very popular, there is another regular event that they host that has quickly gained popularity.
Like every other organization doing great things in our community, the Delhi Legion could not do what they do without the help of volunteers, but Allen assures us that it is rewarding work.
If giving back to the community is something that you enjoy doing and have some extra time to put towards, either as a member or as a volunteer, the Delhi Legion wants to talk to you.
And while you will find a rewarding way of giving back to the community while helping the Legion, you may even find so much more than that.
The Delhi Legion hopes to see you at the Cenotaph on King Street this Saturday, followed by a luncheon at noon at the Legion. The Ladies Auxilary are serving a Roast Beef Dinner in the evening, there is a signup sheet in the club room.
