Ontario’s legislature resumed sitting yesterday after a summer recess with controversy about Greenbelt land removals looming large, despite Premier Doug Ford’s announcement last week that he is reversing the decision.
Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Bobbi-Ann Brady went online following a busy day at Queens Park to have her say.
Brady was also concerned with how this scandal will further make the public distrust politicians.
It’s been nearly a year since the province took 74-hundred acres of land out of the Greenbelt to build 50-thousand homes, leading to numerous cabinet resignations after recent probes found the process was rushed and favoured certain developers with ties to Ford.
Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Paul Calandra said government members wouldn’t support an N-D-P bill to return lands to the Greenbelt because the government will soon introduce its own bill doing that.
