When South Coast Jazz announced their line up for their festival, many people were surprised to see a popular rock name at the forefront.
Mark Holmes of “Platinum Blonde” spoke to us ahead of the big festival, excited to hit the stage and play the songs people know and love – but also songs he has admired for some time.
Audio PlayerHolmes said when you look at music spanning the generations, it’s easy to still trace it back to those jazz roots.
Audio PlayerThat 60’s jazz music holds a special spot in Holmes heart as well, from the way it sounds to the thought behind every beat on the drum.
Audio PlayerWe asked him about his specific influences when it came to his own music.
Audio PlayerHolmes talked to us as well about the importance of doing these kinds of shows, and stepping outside of a comfort zone.
He says it is essential for an artist to spread their wings as time goes on, and that he wants the audience to go along for that ride and not try to hold artists to certain standards.
Audio PlayerThis is one of the only times you will see Holmes on stage this year.
