Simcoe Composite School is hoping some theatre lovers, fellow thespians, businesses, and community members will be able to dig into their pockets to help make their drama department shine.
English and Drama teacher Leanne Clark spoke to us at the high school about their latest fundraising endeavor.
As the stage sits in a very central part of the school, this sound system and lighting would also be beneficial for other activities happening in the school.
Productions that take place now on stage have to get by with what’s on hand and what people are generously lending out.
As mentioned, the drama program does heavily teach teens about the ways of acting, but Clark notes there are many people who come into her classroom who show an interest in helping out behind the curtain.
As one would imagine, stage lights and a sound system does not come without a hefty price tag.
With that, the Grand Erie District School Board has agreed to donate $10,000 of that if the school is able to raise the remaining $15,000.
There are many ways you can donate.
Clark notes any donation, big or small, is appreciated.
Norfolk County has a rich background supporting theatre, with local stages in Waterford, Simcoe, and Port Dover, and the school wants to ensure that passionate continues to shine bright for kids in Secondary School.
