Some changes may be coming to our local arenas.
The contract is up for the 5 concession stands across our local ice pads, and Norfolk County Council is now weighing their options.
The hope is that they can put out a request for a business to take over at the Port Dover Arena, Waterford Tricenturena, Langton Arena, Talbot Gardens and the Delhi Community Centre Arena.
Since 2011, there have been nine operators for concession services in the five Norfolk County arenas.
Out of the nine operators, not one has finished their term of the contract agreement in any of the five arenas in Norfolk County.
Another option, which Norfolk County staff is not recommending, would be to handle concessions “in-house” and have county staff run the facilities.
Some of the local clubs have opted to run the concession areas during this time, and have interest in doing this moving forward as well.
At Talbot Gardens, Joy Bakery tried serving food and drinks on a trial basis. The report going before council this week says they are interested in suppling services for concession operations going forward.
The vending machines operator contracts are also up.
