It was not a great long weekend for a local family following a fire in Port Rowan.
On Saturday afternoon, fire crews were sent out to 1st Concession Road to respond to a fire that started in a garage and was spreading into the attached home.
Three people that were at the home at the time of the blaze escaped without injury and it is believed all the animals escaped unharmed as well.
It took crews many hours to extinguish the stubborn blaze, with strong winds making firefighting efforts difficult.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The home and property sustained extensive damage with an estimated loss of $600,000.
