Haldimand-Norfolk could be called Haldimand-Norfolk-Six Nations by the time the next Federal election rolls around.
Right now, proposals are being made through the Federal Electoral Districts Redistribution – looking at ridings across Ontario and how they can be updated.
Under our current proposal, the name would change to Haldimand-Norfolk-Six Nations as a riding and it would consist of Norfolk, Haldimand, and a portion of Six Nations.
Interestingly, part of Haldimand County would move to Niagara West – specifically the Dunnville area.
There would also be a notch taken out of Oxford, as the Town of Tillsonburg would be added to our local riding.
The Ontario Commission is seeking public input on the proposed boundaries for the new electoral districts including names by September 25.
After that, there are 17 public hearings (in-person and virtual) that members of the public can provide comments to the Commission.

Below are maps comparing the ridings now and what the proposed new ridings will look like.
