Ryan VanNetten is living the dream.
The 18-year-old Simcoe resident signed to the Ontario Hockey League’s Niagara IceDogs earlier this month.
The recent Simcoe Composite School grad was originally drafted to the OHL in the 2020 U16 draft by the Flint Firebirds.
VanNetten said his parents have helped him along the way.
His longterm goal with hockey is to play for as long as possible.
He started his hockey career with the Simcoe Warriors when he was about four, before moving onto Brantford for Minor Atom, up to Brantford 99ers Junior A .
The defenceman has advice for kids just starting out their careers.
He heads to training camp in August.
