The Bill family knows first hand how dangerous the intersection of St. John’s Road East and Cockshutt Road really is.
That was Regan Bill speaking to council on Tuesday, just four weeks after losing her father, Chris Bill, in a collision at that intersection.
Bill, a police officer, said traffic safety is near to her heart every day.
She pleaded to council to move these changes along as quickly as possible.
The deputation was accompanied in the council chambers by the family friends who were with her parents on the day of the collision.
She added her mom, Kelly Bill, would have liked to be in attendance, but is dealing with being wheelchair bound since the collision.
The family is hopeful no one else has to go through this type of loss because of this intersection.
Bill Cridland, General Manager of the Operations Division, said the required upgrades would cost around $15,000.
They are looking into installing rumble strips, double stop signs, a flashing light above the intersection, and flashing yellow intersection ahead signs.
Staff is also researching other intersections with similar issues.
