It is a bittersweet retirement from politics for MPP Toby Barrett.
While he feels that it is time to step aside, he says what transpired after he made the decision has him and several members of the community worried.
After Barrett announced his retirement, Haldimand Mayor Ken Hewitt was appointed by the Progressive Conservatives to represent the party in the upcoming Provincial Election.
This is not something Barrett endorses.
Barrett has issues with Hewitt being his replacement, and also doesn’t like that he bypassed a local nomination vote.
When it comes to the upcoming election, Barrett said your vote counts.
