
Paxlovid is now available in Norfolk County.
The antiviral pill to protect against severe side effects of COVID-19 is now available at select local pharmacies by prescription.
In Simcoe it is available at the Real Canadian Superstore Pharmacy, both Roulston’s locations, Clark’s Pharmasave, and Shoppers Drug Mart. In Waterford, Rexall will be dispensing it.
The pill must be taken within five days of symptoms starting to be effective.
It is currently only available for a select group of individuals, who must also have proof of a positive PCR test.
This group includes:
- Individuals aged 18 and over who are immunocompromised (have an immune system that is weakened by a health condition or medications);
- Individuals aged 70 and over;
- Individuals aged 60 and over with fewer than three vaccine doses; and
- Individuals aged 18 and over with fewer than three vaccine doses and at least one risk condition (e.g., a chronic medical condition)
