The County officially purchased Vittoria Town Hall last month after they discovered that they did not in fact own it already.
Through the Call for Submissions process for Halls and Arenas last year, it came to the County’s attention that the County did not legally own the Vittoria Town Hall, but rather was a tenant under a long-standing lease agreement with The Vittoria Lecture Room Company.
In a memo sent to council this week, staff say investigations with the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services revealed that The Vittoria Lecture Room Company dissolved in or around 1929, and the ministry could transfer the property to the County for a purchase price of $1,000.00.
With administration fees, the county paid $1,164 on Valentine’s Day to acquire the property.
