Next week, the province is on track to eliminate their proof of vaccination system.
For Acting Medical Officer Of Health Dr. Matt Strauss, he feels that this is a big step in the right direction.
Dr. Strauss had previously spoke to us regarding ending vaccine mandates prior to the provincial announcement, and is pleased to see this hurdle being eliminated.
He feels that at this point, as the brunt of Omicron now behind us, it only makes sense for restrictions to relax.
Dr. Strauss continued that there was also some ethical issues he had with the Vax Pass and is glad to no longer be mandatory provincially.
On March 1st, establishments will still have the option to voluntarily enforce the proof of vaccination system but it will not be mandatory from the province.
We also spoke with Dr. Strauss regarding future easing of COVID-19 restrictions, specifically mask mandates, with that story set to be released on Friday.
