The Special Investigations Unit has provided a minor update in regards to the Rodger Kotanko investigation.
The investigation surrounds Kotanko, a 70-year-old Norfolk County resident who was shot and killed by Toronto Police during a search warrant earlier this month.
The SIU says investigators have collected one police-issued firearm, which was sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for analysis.
One “subject official” and seven witnesses have been designated at this time.
Five witnesses have been interviewed at this time.
Two civilian witnesses have been interviewed.
The post-mortem was conducted on November 4th but the final post-mortem report has not yet been received.
Kotanko’s next-of-kin are engaged in the SIU’s Affected Persons Program, which includes support services.
Yesterday, the Kotanko family held a press conference demanding answers.
The investigation is ongoing.
