
Chief Mark Hill and the Six Nations Of The Grand River community are not satisfied with the Ford Government’s financial commitment when it comes to searching the Mohawk Institute for missing children and unmarked burial sites.
It came to their understanding that the Ontario government would be providing around $400,000 over the next 3 years for the project, which they say is not sufficient for the task at hand.
In a statement, they go over the former residential school’s long history in Canada
The Survivor Secretariat is requesting $3 million for this year and additional $3 million to cover two more additional years.
They do not believe that even this will be adequate to completely cover the costs but feel it’s a big improvement.
