Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council are standing by residential school survivors in their search for justice.
Survivors have asked police to investigate and search for unmarked graves at the former site of the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School in Brantford.
That was Chief Mark B. Hill.
He went on to speak about the pledge they made to assist in the search efforts.
Hill says the money put aside by Six Nations will help create a Survivor Secretariat so they can start the work immediately.
Hill says it is critical that evidence is preserved and protected.
The Mohawk Institute was opened in 1828 and was the first to be opened in Canada.
There are over 430 acres to search, plus an 88 acre farm adjacent to the institute.
