The mental health of her employees was at the top of Heather Pond’s mind as she made decisions about her business throughout the pandemic.
The owner of the Blue Elephant kept the restaurant open for takeout throughout the closures to give her staff something to look forward to.
While the restaurant was closed last year she was able to pivot, creating a hand sanitizer and helping grocery shop for migrant workers, helping keep her team busy.
They have also been keeping busy by preparing meals twice a day for several farms with workers isolating or in quarantine.
The Blue Elephant is now open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The patio and indoor dining are available with a full menu.
