A new research project in Norfolk County hopes to get a clearer picture on gender based violence in the community.
Coordinator For Haldimand-Norfolk Justice For Women Review Team Amber Wardell says the online surveys and interviews are aimed at survivors of violence, perpetrators, and local service providers.
Looking at police reports, it appears that this kind of violence is more prevalent in Haldimand-Norfolk than other areas.
When it comes to rural areas, there are unique challenges as well, and that’s something she hopes they can get a better grasp on through this survey.
The “Beyond Domestic Violence” Community Report Card will help agencies work together to increase the effectiveness of services within
Haldimand & Norfolk related to violence including emotional, physical, sexual, and financial abuse by current or former intimate partners.
This is the big milestone for the area.
The insights gained will be published in Summer 2021 within a final report available to the public via the team’s website.
