Parks staff have completed a review of locations to move the Simcoe Skateboard Park.
During the 2021 budget deliberation, Parks Department staff were directed to find a
municipally owned location to move the Skate Park in order to eliminate approximately $13,000 per year in rental fees for the current location at the Fairgrounds.
The following three spots were highlighted as ideal locations.
1. Adjacent to the East Parking Lot (86 Argyle Street) near Simcoe Composite School.
2. Simcoe Lions Park (75 Davis Street East) across from the Bowling Alley.
This location contains a playpark, baseball diamonds, and access to a trail system.
3. Evergreen Heights Park (33 Brock Street) near Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.
Norfolk County has given notice to the current property owners that the park will be removed from the current location by June 30.
Staff will be bringing a staff report to Council in early spring in regard to the final skateboard park location.
The County will remove all fencing on the property as well as some restoration work to the current property after removing the fence post cemented in the ground.
