Councillors took an opportunity last night to discuss what they believe is a hostile work environment.
Councillor Amy Martin brought forward the discussion after it had began last week in a closed session.
Councillor Michael Columbus echoed Martin’s words, saying he had never been subjected to anything like what he’s experienced over the past two years.
Councillor Ian Rabbitts expressed sympathy for Mayor Chopp if she felt like she was being targeted.
But, he voiced his displeasure in her decision to leave last night’s Council meeting.
Councillor Ryan Taylor noted that they have had similar discussions, suggesting a need to seek help to address the issue.
In the end, Councillors (apart from Mayor Chopp who was no longer in attendance) asked Norfolk County Clerk Andy Grozelle to organize an all-day governance training session for all members of Council.
We have reached out to Mayor Chopp for a comment or an interview but have not heard back at this time.
