The Director of Communications for the Conservative Party of Canada is weighing in on why Albert Marshall’s nomination for the our local party was denied.
Marshall took to Facebook explaining that the Party gave their reasoning for the refusal to accept his candidacy 11 minutes before the nominations process closed.
His full story can be found here.
Cory Hann from the Conservative Party has responded to this, saying Marshall submitted his information on the last possible day with little time for correction if an error was made – and Hann said the form was incomplete.
Hann said Marshall was told several times that he needed a campaign account to pay $1000 via certified cheque to the party to run.
He says this is standard policy.
When Marshall instead requested he pay via VISA, the request was denied as Hann said it goes against official party rules.
Hann said the Conservatives were not going to break their own set of rules for Marshall’s oversight.
With Marshall not in the running, Leslyn Lewis has officially been declared as the Conservative candidate for the next Federal election in Haldimand-Norfolk.
Both Lewis and the Conservative Party of Canada confirmed the news via their Facebook pages.
