The Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre officially has a targeted re-opening date of October 5th.
General Manager of Community Services, Bill Cridland says that they’re committed to working with user groups to fine-tune their scheduling.
Those user groups, he explains, are excited to see the facility open.
Cridland continues, saying they’ve been busy implementing new safety measures at the facility.
Among these are changes to infrastructure like the installation of sneeze guards and marking out the spacing on the floor.
As long as staff do the proper cleaning and bathers obey the rules, Cridland believes they’ll be effective in limiting the spread of COVID-19.
Cridland adds that he knows people questioned how long the aquatic centre was closed for and apologizes, noting that it’s been a big task making sure the proper safety measures are in place.
He says that they also took the time to do some much-needed re-tiling and grouting of the surface of the pool.
As the facility re-opens, Cridland says the plan is to have it open for 8 hours each day of the week.
