Norfolk County’s most recent budget will see the end of hockey at the Simcoe Rec Centre and, if nobody steps up to run one of the County’s other arenas, an additional rink may close its doors.
Martin Jefferson is the President of Simcoe Minor Hockey.
He explains that not knowing what Norfolk County’s arena situation will look like next year makes it difficult to plan their programs.
Jefferson adds says that the closure o will make it difficult for existing programs, let alone new ones.
One of the largest consumers of ice in the County, Jefferson explains that this could affect the tournaments that Simcoe Minor Hockey runs, which he thinks, might have an impact on the local economy.
