A voice for the young adults and teens of Norfolk County.
That is how Jess Bommarito is seen by many pushing for a stronger community and more options for young people in the county.
While working with several groups in the background, Bommarito has been a driving force for Downtown Simcoe and alternative job opportunities for young people.
She told us that when she was going to high school in Norfolk, she felt what many young people feel now – a desire to leave.
A desire to see the big city and pursue jobs she did not feel were possible in the rural community of Norfolk.
She has since come back and noticed the community thrives here and the options that are available if you are willing to take them.
She is showing that with her business of ‘Groundswell Coworkingʼ, which connects entrepreneurs who work from home with resources a normal office could bring.
She is even starting a youth program so that college kids or high schoolers can see the alternative to a 9-5 job and how they can stay at home and enjoy what the county has to offer while also doing what they are passionate about.
With that Bommarito is frank – if you want to leave then you should.
She encourages any young person who wants to leave the county to go and explore the world and see what is available but wants to put a bug in their ear that if they come back there are many options waiting for them.
