Jean Montgomery is a woman all-in for community and sports
Many will recognize Montgomery for her leadership role when it comes to sports across the county but mainly keeping basketball programs available for youth.
She was selected to officiate the OFSAA Girls Basketball Finals in 2012 and is also an award winner as one of Basketball Ontarioʼs Outstanding Coaches.
While having an impact on the basketball world with teens and adults, she says her passion is working with young people and seeing them grow as athletes and people.
She also wants to help those in the community and while she has a passion for seeing children grow and develop – another part of her heart is dedicated to helping individuals who may be struggling.
Recently she launched the Wellness Council – a group of individuals working together to see what issues may be facing Downtown Simcoe and trying to come up with solutions.
She is aware that there are other groups also looking into the issue as well but feels a group of citizens with their heart in the right place can make big moves to helping those who may be struggling.
