SENIORS GIVE THEIR SAY ON THE PROPOSED HUB IN SIMCOE 3/7/2018 7:44:07 AM
Support for a new multi-use recreational center in Simcoe is gaining steam. Nearly 5-thousand people have signed an online petition saying a HUB is the best option moving forward. The All Norfolk Community HUB group is now looking to hear from those in their golden years.
The group added a new online survey to find out just what our seniors feel about a HUB setting. Spokesperson Amy Martin says the rationale behind this decision stems from their disbelief in some council talking points.
The survey is only six questions long, and over 450 people have filled it out so far.
The group has found that 88 percent of seniors said they would be regular users of a HUB facility and 83 percent want it to be located with the HUB so that they could have better access to it.
Members of the Seniors Centre in Simcoe gave an interview to myFM last year saying they want to stay in the downtown Simcoe area.
Martin says while it is essential to get feedback from the people currently at the senior's center they need to take into account all seniors in the area, and those approaching that age, and what will be best for this community in the long run.
