DENTISTS LAUNCH CAMPAIGN TO ENSURE LOW-INCOME CHILDREN RECEIVE FREE DENTAL CARE
2/12/2018 7:16:21 AM

Ontario's low-income kids are the most at risk when it comes to funding for dental treatment according to the Ontario Dental Association (ODA).

The ODA has launched an awareness campaign to inform Ontarians about the funding gap in public dental care.

Currently, Dentists across the province treat about 200,000 kids under the Healthy Smiles Ontario program. However, the ODA feels more needs to be done to ensure all 500,000 eligible children and youth get the care they need. The ODA claims that close to 300,000 children are in need of dental care who aren't receiving it and that dental pain is the second-most common reason kids miss school.
